Privacy Policy
Your takes never leave your device. HoverSynth has no account, no tracking and no advertising. The only things it sends are anonymous signals when you open the app and when an export finishes, so we can count how many people use HoverSynth, how often it makes a video and how many people are in the trial or have bought it.
Camera and hand tracking
HoverSynth uses the front camera to see your hands. The positions of your hands are worked out on your iPhone, frame by frame, and turned into notes. The camera picture and the hand positions are not sent anywhere. The camera is on only while the recording screen is open.
Microphone
The microphone records the sound of a take while the camera films it. The recording is processed on your iPhone and stays there.
Your recordings
Each take is stored inside the app on your device. When you export, the video is saved to your photo library or handed to the app you pick in the share sheet. HoverSynth asks only for permission to add videos to your photo library. It cannot read your photos or videos. Nothing is uploaded to us or to any third party.
Anonymous usage counters
HoverSynth sends three kinds of signals to TelemetryDeck (EU-hosted), and no other usage data:
- a session signal when you open the app, with the app version, the iOS version and the device model, so we can count how many devices use HoverSynth each month;
- an export signal when an export finishes, with technical details such as the length of the video, how long the export took, which instrument and which sound settings were used, as names, numbers and yes/no values;
- an access signal once per launch, with one word for the state of the app on this device (for example "trial" or "purchased") and, during the trial, which of the seven days it is. It carries no purchase details, no Apple ID and no dates.
All three signals:
- contain no personal information: no names, no emails, no file names, and nothing of your picture, your hands or your voice;
- use an anonymous identifier made on your device, which cannot be traced back to you;
- do not use the advertising identifier (IDFA) and are not used to track you across apps or websites.
Apple's privacy manifest for this app declares this as product interaction data, used for analytics and not linked to you.
Purchases
The 7-day trial and the one-time purchase go through Apple. We do not see your name, your Apple ID or your payment details. The app only learns from Apple whether this device is in the trial or has bought the app.
Children
HoverSynth is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone.
Your rights
We hold no personal data about you: the signals are anonymous and cannot be matched to a person. Deleting the app removes all its local data from your device. Videos you exported stay in your photo library until you delete them.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and post the new version on this page.
